JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Human Resources enables New Moms to pursue our mission by overseeing New Moms’ talent, and by nurturing a work culture that acknowledges our commitment to equity, inclusion, and excellence for our staff and participants.  The HR Director serves as part of the Executive Leadership Team, which provides strategic and day-to-day direction for the organization.

JOB DUTIES:

  1. Provide oversight of staff recruitment, onboarding, and off-boarding.
  2. Administer payroll, and benefits.
  3. Provide reports, manage audits, and ensure contract compliance.
  4. Forecast compensation needs and future staffing structures.
  5. Facilitate our performance review process, and job satisfaction surveys.
  6. Oversee grievance process.
  7. Mitigate risks through continuous review of policy and procedures.
  8. Manage a significant budget and expense reports.
  9. Collaborate with Board of Director’s Personnel committee to ensure policies are in line with New Mom’s values and priorities.
  10. Provide thought leadership in supporting staff development.
  11. Lead special projects as assigned by the CEO and/or COO.

Qualifications:

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years as HR generalist required; PHR preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in top management of nonprofit administration.
  • Experience managing diverse teams, at various levels of professional development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR best practice in nonprofit organizations.
  • Ability to digest complex information quickly.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and managing a number of complex projects.

  • Strong relationship builder and communicator.

Critical Thinking

  • Requires significant independent decision-making skills, including when and whether to seek additional information and assistance.
  • Ability to work effectively and demonstrate the highest level of professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to work hands-on in developing and executing a variety of projects.

Computer Proficiency

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.  Ability to navigate and administer other HR software systems.
  • Ability to analyze, draw conclusions and apply information from various data sources (spreadsheets, reports, databases).
